Here are some of the highlights from my yarn stash -
- the bird’s nest of Estonian linen is my favourite item.
The Icelandic Lace weight is from Álafoss, outside Reykjavík – I had a fantastic holiday in Iceland a couple of years ago, and have lots of photos to share at some point…
I’m not sure what will happen with the stainless steel – it’s from the Iknit Weekender in London last September – I went there to meet Bart and Francis from Belgium, who have lots of intriguing yarns on their website.
Yesterday, BSM was finally published, and I celebrated the national holiday with a walk around Luggala and Lough Tay. Mini always enjoys a few gulps of rain water from this rock pool near a precipice. The weather was perfect – dry and bright and slightly chilly.

Thank you very much for the link to Bart & Francis in Belgium. Wonderful yarn.
Another good address is Tentakulum,
http://server5.gs-shop.de/200/cgi-bin/shop.dll?SESSIONID=0910716491984204&AnbieterID=11282. They specialize in Embroidery Silk but carry great other products such as silk waste and silk cocoons.
The bird’s nest really suits Estonian lace knitting! What a treasure. I made my Lily of the Valley shawl of Ramie/Silk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramie and I was sad when I finished the shawl because handling the yarn was such a joy. It is like a linen/silk mix, with a “rough edge”, keeping the project in shape due to less elasticity.
Thank you for those beautiful photographs. A good place to live and see nature still unspoilt.
I’ve known and admired your designs on Ravelry for some time but have only recently started reading your enjoyable blog.
I also want to thank you for the link to Bart & Francis, an amazing store of yarns. The colours of the wool and silk are gorgeous, do you know if they are soft, have you felt them?
Also your Estonian birds nest is wonderfully fine. Is it available online?
